here we are...party of three

mr aidan charles cain made his appearance on June 25th, 2009...he came into the world "ass first" according to Dr. Jenkins as he pulled him out of my new 8 inch scar that this little baby boy has blessed me with! he's worth it!!!

i never imagined i could love something so much...even if our relationship is very one-sided at this point in time...he uses me to eat and change his diaper...he'll come around - i am sure of it!

so, you are probably wondering how the first couple of weeks has been! WHIRLWIND for sure! I find myself looking in the mirror saying - "oh my what happened"...i used to leave for work pretty put together and now by 1 o'clock i am lucky if i have even showered and my outfits now consist of spit up, milk and sweat from the body heat this guy puts out! again - he is beyond worth it. he isn't fond of sleeping more than 2 hours a night and loves to be rocked to sleep in the middle of the night, which he likes to take about 40 minutes to do so. not a fan of having his diaper changed at ALL!!! and when i say at all - it means he loathes it - he has "christened" his room in so many ways - take cover is how I react at 2am when he projectile poops all over the walls and curtains...he gets a little smile on his face like "ahhh i feel better" and I am off to clean up a pretty fun mess!

i will say - he is an eater - we went to the doctor on the 7th of July and he had put on 1lb 4 oz - the doctor told us to keep doing what we were doing...he is growing up right before my eyes and so fast! we have the same talk everyday about not growing up too fast and just taking life slow...he seems to not be listening already! are we going to have our hands full or what?

he hates a pacifier, not sure if that is a good thing or not yet - he does love to suck on his hands though. we went on our first walk today - can you tell everyone has gone and i was on my own - otherwise i wouldn't have been able to get the hall pass to go on a walk! brad keeps me locked up pretty tight just so i don't do too much and find myself back in bed for 2 weeks again! having a c-section was not that much fun at all!!!!

so far though - he is the love of our lives - i look at him all the time with his million different faces and just wonder how Brad and i did this - he's perfect and he is all ours. i love it being the three of us and live seems so complete! i savor the time that i have with him, but once brad gets home - i treasure our moments as a family even more...i have my two favorite boys and they both are perfect!

Here are some pictures of little aidan in his first weeks of life....

i will be better about posting - i promise!

the 30 day mark

here we are - 30 days out from the due date...will he come early, on time...this is the true test...

i have to say this whole pregnancy has flown by, i can't believe it is almost over. i will miss it when all is said and done, but i am ready to have my body back! seems silly to say, but he is wearing on me - carrying an extra 30 lbs is really a lot harder than i thought it would be. he is worth it in the end, but boy am i ready for it to be over!

we have had such a great pregnancy though. i have been blessed with a pretty easy one - which i think has made it easier on brad. he has been incredible thru it all. he hasn't missed an appointment, gets up with me every night at my hourly bathroom run & even manages to come home early with me, well most of the time! we have been surrounded by so many amazing people who have done so much for baby cain - i can't thank everyone enough for it...we feel very blessed.

we did finish the room! i can't believe that it is done - i am shocked...we finished it ahead of schedule too - go us!!!! i will post pictures for all to see!

well, hopefully soon enough this baby boy is born and we can share him with you all!

xoxoxox, brad, kate and baby cain (who is kicking me as i type this!)

our first family post...

here we are 30 weeks in and 10 weeks, 64 days, until we meet our little man! WE CAN'T WAIT!

in case you didn't know, we are indeed having a little boy...we are over the moon, i can't wait to have two brads running around here! brad will want me to remind everyone that he did start walking at 7 months, running at 9...i hope he takes after me and is a little more lazy when it comes to walking...i want him to grow up slowly! who am i kidding though - he will grow up so fast, this pregnancy has gone fast enough! it feels like just yesterday, i put the wine opener away and started down this journey!

the past 30 weeks have been an interesting one - i have to say being pregnant is one of the hardest things i have ever done - i always thought it would be easier - you get pregnant, hang out for 9 months and then get the most amazing gift ever...not as easy...the worrying alone is something i never imagined.

we have started to cross some things off of the list - but not enough. brad painted his heart out on the nursery...it looks so amazing we love it! we are picking up the furniture this weekend to finish it off. i can't believe what an amazing job he did and i love him so much for the time and effort he put into his soon to be son's room - it looks amazing! i can't wait to see it all finished. the little man and i hung out in there today while i worked from home. it was nice, we enjoyed it! i told him we would have many more days in this room and i hope he enjoys it as much as we do! i think it is our favorite room in the house! so, the room is done, what else you ask? well, not much else! he still needs a name...so if anyone has any ideas - throw them on out there. we need to make sure it sounds fabulous when they are announcing him walking up the 18th fairway to the green or winning the masters...we don't have plans for him - no none at all! :)

well, i just wanted to update our blog to be about us versus just me - keep checking back for pictures, stories and so on! it will get interesting i promise! afterall we have a mini brad and i coming - how couldn't that be interesting?!?!? here are some pictures of the nursery stage 1...more to come this weekend!

xoxoxoxo - the cains
notice all the stripes - can i say thank you enough to brad? don't mind the lack of furniture - all we have his is side table for the rocker and his lamps - everything else comes SATURDAY! mom - how's that bedding coming along?
